Becoming a young entrepreneur in Europe
- On 31/03/2020
The creation of an enterprise is not an easy plan. Building a company requires many competencies such as creativity, business management, branding, marketing, sales, finance and other skills to develop a business at its best.
In some higher education European universities, students can find support to develop their ideas and to start a business. Entrepreneurship in higher education mostly aim at increasing the entrepreneurial mindset and abilities of a student.
Which support can be provided for a student to create a business?
In some European schools, business incubator programs are included.
According to Entrepreneur Europe business incubator is “an organization designed to accelerate the growth and success of entrepreneurial companies through an array of business support resources and services that could include physical space, capital, coaching, common services, and networking connections“.
The help from the programs vary from school to school. However, they all aim at guiding the students to design a start-up from their ideas or giving a boost to the students to keep developing the start-up.
Unluckily, not all European schools can implement this program. Sometimes, it is asked to be a business student to have access to it. Entrepreneurship in higher education should not be only dedicated to students in business. Any students should have the chance to create a company.
The European Commission has developed several initiatives to boost the entrepreneurial projects, help them to grow or gain visibility all over Europe:
- Startup Europe: “to support startups scaleup to emerge and grow”
- Innovation Radar: a radar to identify the innovators in Europe innovation with bright future
- Eu Startup Nation Standard: to help SMEs and startup face challenges of the market across Europe
It is possible to find more initiatives from the European Commission on www.ec.europa.eu/digital-single-market/en/startup-europe. Building a company isn’t simple, but every European citizen should be able to develop an idea into a real project, a business and to receive help for it.
